We take freight fraud seriously. That’s why we developed what we believe is the most robust carrier vetting process in the logistics industry.
Best-in-class carrier vetting
We’ve got you
We invested heavily in our carrier identity verification tools and vetting process.
Operating from a zero-trust posture, we double-check every detail, right on down to the VIN number. Once on the road, we actively monitor your shipment from dock to dock. This rigorous approach ensures that only the most trusted, security-focused carriers move your freight.
Transparency inspires confidence
Here’s how we protect your business from fraud and theft.
Confirm carrier identity
We vet all motor carriers on at least three leading fraud prevention and carrier monitoring platforms. These redundancies ensure we don’t miss any red flags that might be present on one tool but not another.
Our toolset includes:
- Highway (the market-leading carrier identity tool)
- SaferWatch
- Carrier411
- And more
Within each platform, we review carrier inspections, identity alerts, and other reports and insights to sift trusted, legitimate carriers from bad actors.
Carrier risk assessment
To be onboarded as a BWS carrier partner, our thorough profile review must uncover:
- At least two DOT inspections
- Any specialized equipment for your freight project is available and verified
- At least 90 days of continuous authority
- Proper, active insurance in place for a minimum of 10 days beyond your established load delivery date—that means cargo, auto, and general liability insurance, as well as trailer interchange and reefer breakdown insurance, if applicable
Our insurance minimum thresholds require at least:
- $100,000 in cargo insurance—and $250,000 in cargo insurance for high-value shipments
- $1,000,000 in general liability insurance
- $1,000,000 in auto insurance
Double brokering zero-tolerance policy
We believe in a one-and-done approach. Our team rejects motor carriers when our monitoring platforms surface even a single double brokering comment.
New carrier partner protocols
In the first three months of any broker-carrier partnership, we apply even more rigorous protocols, including:
- Engaging carriers by phone only for all bookings
- Requiring real-time freight tracking
- Holding load details until we’ve reached the driver by phone, and they’ve confirmed that they work for the carrier and were assigned your shipment
Additionally, before tapping any new carrier for a high-value, hot shot, or expedited load, we capture all driver contact details, the truck number, trailer number, and plate associated with the equipment being used from the dispatcher.
We then:
- Verify the plate number provided
- Verify the VIN has been registered within an insurance policy
Any deviation from these guidelines must be approved by management.

Carrier monitoring
Our logistics team continuously monitors carrier performance and compliance, promptly addressing issues on the rare occasions when they do arise and ensuring adherence to our standards.
We also offer 24/7 access to our user-friendly portal, giving customers full visibility into their loads.
Cargo security team training
Our veteran team is trained to spot red flags commonly associated with freight fraud, including truckload carriers who:
- Operate only one or two trucks
- Have undergone a DOT number change
- Have altered their contact information in the last 60 days
